Part One - Option 1: Written Paper
Part one will consist of a multi-page research paper. You will be required to perform academic research that relates to child development. No two topics may be the same, so once you have selected your topic please notify Mr. Carlisle so he can record your topic.
This portion will be worth 20% of your final mark.
- Correct APA format. This is an important part of the research process. In higher education you will be required to use correct research methods to complete assignments. Please refer to Owl Perdue's APA guide to assist you in formatting your sources and your overall paper.
- Double spaced
- 12 pt font, Times New Roman
- Cover Page (not included in your page count)
- Introduction, Body and Conclusion
- 4 - 5 pages

Part One - Option 2: Interview Research
** If you did not do the Real Care Baby this is not an option for you. This alternate assignment is the same as the alternate assignment for the Real Care Baby.
Your task is to write questions and interview others who have experienced the Real Care Babies and Real Child Care – Compose 20 survey/interview questions from your parenting research that can be used to interview others. Only 5 of the questions may be yes/no answer questions. The rest must be full answer questions. Interview at least 5 students in the class, who have taken the real care babies, with your questions. You are also required to interview 5 friends or family members that have children of their own. Be sure to record the full answers of your interviewees. Compile the answers and discuss what you learned about the experience of taking the babies through your survey. Refer to specific answers given by the students, friends & family members you interviewed.
Your reflection should be a minimum of 2 page.
You must submit your questions, the answers and your reflection to get full marks on this task.

Part Two - Oral Presentation
During the last week of school you will be required to present to the class your findings. You will have as much time as you need to present, each presentation should be a minimum 10 minutes in length. Your presentation should be engaging to the audience, cover your topic in detail, include a question period.
This portion will be worth 10% of your final mark.
