Here are some tips for your business emails.
- Use your proper name, first and last name . Don't use a nick name like "The tycoon" that the recipient won't recognize. (To change your name, click on the properties of your email account.)
- Use proper spelling, grammar and punctuation. Do not use chat abbreviations!
- Use paragraphs to organize your thoughts and leave a blank line between paragraphs.
- Edit your communication so that it is clear and concise. Remember - brevity with clarity!
- Use a subject line with a meaningful description.
- Do not attach unsolicited files. Large unsolicited attachments are not only annoying but can clog up an email system and prevent the recipient from receiving other emails.
- Include your name at the end of the email as a courtesy to the recipient, we will look into creating a signature that will automatically attach to all your emails.
- Check your inbox regularly and answer all emails promptly, good practice is to respond within 24 hours.
- Use the high priority flagging option only when necessary.
- Use virus protection software. The recipient of your email will not want to get a virus from your email!
- Do not forward emails without the originator's permission.
- Be aware that email is not necessarily confidential.
- Be courteous. Use appropriate language and tone. Don't use offensive, obscene or racist language.
- Use BCC (Blind Courtesy Copy) to address emails to large groups of people that don't know each other or to keep recipient email addresses confidential.
- Use CC (Courtesy Copy) only when necessary.

Part 1: Send an email to your teacherKeep in mind that you are the CEO of your business and send your teacher an email with the name of your business. Your business can be a music retailing company selling CDs or a book retailing company. For example, some existing music retailers are "Sam the Record Man" and "HMV 1 ". An example of an existing book retailer is "Chapters". Your choice of a name for your company will be original and of your own creation.
